Just a little extra can make a big difference
As I walked into the YMCA, I witnessed a great tragedy; A young man was
painting the awning without a drop cloth! While the red paint going
onto the awning looked great, the paint dripping onto the concrete was
hideous. What a shame. It would have only taken a few minutes to lay
down a drop cloth and the result would have been very different.
It most situations, giving just 10% more effort could give us 50% or more better results. How many times have I learned the hard way that cutting corners doesn't save time at all. It takes an hour to fix what would have only taken me 5 minutes to do right the first time. Impatience and Laziness, they are the culprits. The enemies of excellence. Don't let them get in the way of doing something truly well.
